Have you ever thought that a diamond besides the symbol of elegance and beauty can be really a useful thing? Well! A lot of people would be surprised to know that Diamonds are the toughest materials manufactured from earth and besides their glamour enjoys different functions such as drilling, grinding and polishing.

Let us discuss Tungsten Carbide Coated Core Drill Brits, Tungsten Carbide Coated Grinding Tools and Industrial Grinding Tools in detail.

Industrial & Commercial Core Drill Bits – A Smart Choice for Industrial Purpose

Core Drilling Bits are avidly used to drill wells, mountains, and for basic construction purposes, or to cut hard surfaces such as stone, concrete. Ofcourse, the size of the diamond depends largely on the job you are going to perform. Commercial Core Drill Bits, like other industrial tungsten carbide cutters function and are prepared in the same way. It’s very interesting to know that many people have actually utilized a material such as diamond so effectively, economically and interestingly.

Commercial Core Drill Brits

One of the positive and strong attribute about drill bits is that they never fall dull. Pointing out all the benefits, we can now understand how important is it to have these Core Drill Bits for construction work.

Alternative Diamond Grinding Tools – High Performance Tools

A Grinding tools contains special diamond segments for grinding range of materials which other grinding and cutting tools cannot. The special diamond segments contain in a diamond grinding tool constitutes diamond crystal and powder metal forming the bond. Before selecting the grinding tools, remember that ‘bond’ is one of the main factors depending on how hard, or abrasive the material is. The bond decides the rate at how sharp is the edge of Diamond Grinding Tools.

Diamond Grinding Tools – Never Go Dull

Another benefit is that they never go dull. This of course doesn’t mean that they are going to last forever. It simple means that as long as diamonds are embedded in the surface, the diamond grinding tool will drill and perform just as actively as the first day of its life till its last working day. What’s more amazing?

Diamond Polishing Tools – Most effective and convenient means

Diamond Polishing tools are the most effective and convenient means to polish stone, concrete or masonry. Thanks to the recent advancement in flooring industry giving a shiny and glossy like look to the floor. Catching on millions people attention, these tools give dazzling and shimmering look to the concrete floor and are highly used in private homes, office, industries, retails houses, showrooms, warehouses.

Grinding Wheel Coating For Cutting & Drilling Tools

A grinding wheel is a useful tool for construction. Given the right roughness of grit, such a wheel can be used to quickly carve designs into a wide variety of materials, and the use of wheels with a succeeding number of continually finer grit may even deliver a mirror finish on a sufficiently hard or reflective surface. The key to successfully getting these or any other job done is to understand how this tool achieves its abrasiveness.

All kinds of grinding tools, including the wheel, make use of bonding abrasives that consist of two parts: The cutting grains or abrasive mixture, and the bonding mixture that holds the abrasive in place while the tool is being used. The kind of abrasive, ratio of abrasive to bonding and distribution of abrasive and bonding mixtures across the surface of the grinding wheel are what give the tool its particular characteristics suitable to a given job.

The most common abrasive is aluminum oxide, usually used for grinding carbon steel, hard bronze and other metals. For general grinding applications on steel and steel alloys, a combination of aluminum and zirconium oxides may be used called zirconia alumina. Silicon carbide may be used for non-ferrous materials such as stone and rubber, as well as for chilled iron, soft bronze, aluminum, and brass. For use on particularly tough materials, wheels may be coated with diamond abrasive, which is the hardest naturally occurring substance known to man. Diamond is at the extreme end of the Mohs scale of hardness with a rating of 10, making it the perfect ultra-abrasive cutting material.

Also, every grinding wheel has what is called a ‘grit size.’ This is the average size of the grains of abrasive used in a particular wheel. The higher the number, the finer the grain. Therefore, the job becomes smoother and more moderately paced.

Tunco Manufacturing is a manufacturer of high-quality, tungsten carbide coating for drilling and grinding equipment, including the above mentioned grinding wheel. Over 29 years of experience and craftsmanship goes into every tool, and backed by warranty.

To protect tools is to safeguard a most valuable investment, one which can cost thousands of dollars or more depending the on the extent of the tool collection and its prescribed use. For most tool owners, the initial cost of tools is steep, and to maintain that investment year in and year out requires considerable foresight. Protecting tools from the elements which can occur naturally and from the wear and tear typical of regular use, specific measures must be taken.

One valuable protective measure which often safeguards investments is finding a grinding tool coating company that offers coating services. Coating tools serves a variety of purposes and benefits both the tool and the wallet of their owner. Most coating companies offer a variety of options to consider and most all tools benefit from preventative maintenance which helps to protect from rust and irreversible damage. After repetitive usage, most tools may develop frayed edges, rusted areas, weakened performance, dullness, and overall damage. If proper maintenance and protective measures are not taken, costly replacement costs may result.

Protecting tools by seeking out the services of a grinding tool coating company has additional benefits as well. By building a functional relationship with a local coating company, tools may be maintained responsibly, a working correspondence may develop, and an overall camaraderie develops. As any prudent business owner or property owner knows, particularly those involving extensive investments, working relationships between benefiting business partners is a part of maintaining any asset. For those wishing to care for tools used around a home or ranch, for example, such a relationship can be highly beneficial, especially if it is local. For small and large businesses, savings may be offered where tools are serviced in bulk.

Owning and buying tools comes with a responsibility. Grinding tool coating company services may also include a variety of other tool maintenance benefits in addition to coating which help to safeguard investments. Searching for a local coating company is simple with online reviews and business profiles.

About Carbide Cutting Tools

Cutting tools are an important part of any machine industries assembly line. There are different types of cutting tools available for machining, but the industry choices put carbide cutting tools and high speed steel at the top of the list. Carbide is quickly outpacing high speed steel as the material of choice, due to its strength and toughness. Its resistance to abrasions and other impact wear lengthens the life of the cutting tool while providing a much higher quality product. In addition, the assembly line works at a very productive pace because of carbide’s ability to cut at high speeds without warping.

What is Carbide?

Carbide is a chemical compounds made up of the element carbon, along with another metal, silicon or boron element. This combination can create many different types of carbide, though the most popular include carbon mixed with iron, tungsten or calcium. Carbide is then a material strong and powerful enough to cut through even the hardest of other elements, making it a perfect choice for tools used in machining systems.

Carbide Cutting Tools

Carbide cutting tools are separated into two categories. There are steel-grade carbides that can cut at high speeds while resisting the warping or deformation that can occur when the compounds reach the high heat that friction during cutting creates. Then there are cast iron carbides, known for their strength and ability to cut through cast iron without creating abrasions, chips or other wear.

As if carbide wasn’t strong enough on its own, it is usually coated with additional elements that add sharpness and strength to its power. Some variations include titanium carbine, ceramic coating and diamond coating. These further protect the carbide cutting tools as well as increase the production quality of the materials being created and cut by the machines.

Carbide Cutting Tool Benefits

Strength – Because carbide is a combination of carbon and a variety of other extremely strong chemical elements, the result is a material powerful enough to cut through cast iron. Its torque strength is twice that of high speed steel and its compression strength is equally impressive.

Toughness – Carbide cutting tools on their own are tough, but with the added coatings available, they become almost indestructible tools for the machine industry to use in their cutting machines. Resistant to abrasions, thermal deformation and other material wear, carbide produces a quality cut and rarely needs repair or replacement.

Value – Because carbide cutting tools work at high speeds without warping, and cut through even the toughest of materials, it keeps the assembly line working fast and productively. Its value is immense in that production loads can be increased without extra wear and tear on parts, as well as without any damage to the product being produced. Overall, this makes carbide cutting tools a preference over high speed steel for machinists and other industry professionals.

Safety in Handling Tungsten Carbide

For all its practical uses, tungsten carbide can be dangerous to anyone who isn’t well-protected when handling it, or when working in areas where tungsten carbide is present. It is therefore important that anyone who comes into contact with this material should know how to handle it safely.

Without the proper protection, a person can inhale tungsten carbide dust which can cause fibrosis, or a host of other lung conditions. Even having the skin come into contact with tungsten carbide can have a negative effect as it can cause skin rashes in some individuals.

To prevent the safety risks connected with handling tungsten carbide, the following basic safety practices should be observed:

Use a respirator and eye protection. These two protects the most vulnerable parts of your body when handling tungsten carbide. Using a respirator is important especially in situations where there is poor or no ventilation available. Even when a place is well-ventilated, using a respirator is still recommended.

Full body protection. Wearing protective clothing for the entire body is also important. It helps prevent allergic reactions on the skin when it comes to contact with tungsten carbide.

Skin protection. Gloves are a must-wear when handling tungsten carbide. It is also important to apply barrier creams on the skin to add another layer of protection against tungsten carbide dust or mist when working.
Stay away from tungsten carbide work areas. If you have no business being in an area where there’s work on tungsten carbide going on, stay out of it.

Tungsten Carbide Coating

Tungsten carbide is a material that is renowned for its toughness, high melting point, and its high resistance to wear. Due to these characteristics, tungsten carbide is a preferred material used for industrial coatings where there is a demand for long lasting tools despite continued use. Aside from that, this material is also important in industries where there is a need to work faster and more efficiently to keep up with consumer demand.

Common industrial applications of tungsten carbide coating

1.	Boat building. Today’s boats are often made of fiberglass to strike the balance between toughness and light weight. To cut fiberglass panels for boat building, tungsten carbide coated tools are often used to speed up the cutting process, saving the company time and money.

2.	Steel milling. One of the oldest industrial applications of tungsten carbide is found in steel mills. In the 1930s, cemented carbide was invented to improve the speed and efficiency of milling steel. Compared to high speed steel which cut steel at a rate of only 25-50 m/min, milling with cemented carbide sped things up further up to 250 m/min. In addition to that, cemented carbide’s high melting point and toughness meant that it didn’t wear out easily. The cemented carbide coating used for these tools are often composed of a mix of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide, and cobalt.

3.	Conveyor rollers. Another beneficiary of tungsten carbide’s high resistance to wear is the conveyor roller. Carbide can be used on friction bands that are mounted on rollers to prevent slippage. Tungsten carbide’s high resistance to wear also means it can be used regularly without needing to be replaced for long periods.

These three are only examples of some of the industrial applications of tungsten carbide They are also used in many other different industries including wood working, stone sculpting, and even in the tire industry.

Because of that, tungsten carbide coating is primarily used for industrial purposes. Tungsten carbide coated tools can be used for drilling, digging mines, or even used for cutting fiberglass to be used in building boats. These are industry’s that demand tough tools that don’t bend or break or wear easily – characteristics that tungsten carbide possesses.

Another industry that has a high demand for tungsten carbide is the military. This material is an important ingredient in the production of armor-piercing ammunition.

However, it is not just the military and the heavy industries that have a use for tungsten carbide. It also has a variety of domestic and civilian uses. Take for example the rolling tip of the typical ballpoint pen. That tip is usually made of tungsten carbide, as it helps disperse the ink.

Filaments used in light bulbs are also made out of tungsten carbide because of its heat-resistance qualities.

Even couples can now have their own tungsten carbide wedding bands. Couples who choose this material do so for the same reason that the heavy industry sector uses it: because it is tough, and resistant to wear.

So whether it is for building something destructive such as armor piercing bullets, or for lighting homes and streets in light bulbs, tungsten carbide indeed has a wide range of practical uses that affect every person’s lives.

Tungsten Carbide, commonly known as carbide, is a combination of two elements: tungsten and carbon. The product of this combination is a very strong and resistant material used in industrial coating.

Tungsten carbide is regarded as a very hard material, rated at 9 Mohs. In comparison, diamond, which is the toughest material on the planet, is rated at 10 Mohs. In fact, it is so strong that only a few materials can be used to cut or engrave it, such as industrial diamond abrasives. It also has a very high melting point at 2,600 degrees Celsius.

Because of these qualities, tungsten carbide is used in a variety of applications, from civilian to military use. The material is used in the military in producing armor-piercing plates, while tungsten carbide-coated tools can be used to cut, trim, and shape non-metallic industrial materials such as fiberglass. Some couples even opt to have their wedding bands made out of tungsten carbide to make these wedding bands more resistant to wear for daily use.

Carbide is basically manufactured in powder form. However, it can eventually be pressed into different shapes depending on the material being produced, such as the ones mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Care must be taken when handling tungsten carbide, particularly those in dust form. The reason for this is that inhaling the tiny tungsten carbide particles may result in a condition called fibrosis, which affects the lungs.

All in all, tungsten carbide’s combination of toughness and high melting point makes it an ideal material for a variety of uses that range from the anti-armor ammunitions used in war, to wedding bands that signify a couple’s love for each other.
